Spitzer offered post as President of Israel - true or not true?

Subject: Spitzer offered post as President of Israel
Determination: May be a spoof

New York - In his third, hastily arranged press conference in recent days, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer acknowledged today that he has been offered the prestigious position of president of Israel - but he is holding out for a better offer in the U.S.

"I was very flattered to receive this invitation from the Knesset" said Spitzer, accompanied on the podium by a smiling female inflatable doll standing in for his wife.

The Israeli lawmakers said of all the putzes in the parliament, I would be the Outstanding Member".

Spitzer said he was particularly pleased by the warm note he received from former president Moshe Katzaw, who resigned after being indicted for sexual misconduct. "He said I would be keeping up a proud tradition." And cabinet minister Haim Ramon, who was accused of sexual harassment, said he was so pleased with the prospect of Spitzer taking the job. "I could kiss you."

The former governor said he was impressed to learn from Israeli officials that he could continue his extra-curricular activities in Israel "and not to have to pay retail."

But Spitzer, never known for his modesty, said he was hoping to be tapped by one of the presidential candidates as running mate.

"I would make a great Vice President" he asserted "because I have become an expert on vice".

He said he knew "how the system works, how to get things done in Washington, who to call, who to text, and how much things really cost."

Spitzer said he was a great admirer of Bill Clinton because "he managed to achieve what I did but at less cost".
